Stole review by http://www.abc.net
The
dance that matches this song is a slow waltz.
When I heard this song I thought what???' and
listened to it again.
If you like sad, thoughtful songs you'll love this.
If this song was a piece of clothing it would be a navy
woollen scarf.
If this song was an animal it would be a newborn calf.
Most likely to be heard on a RSPCA commercial.
My overall verdict: A sincere, thoughtful and sad song
that will have you humming for the next three hours!
Kelly Rowland is the next band member to follow the trend of
going solo from Destinys Child. She has gone her own way
and produced some pretty incredible music. Shes teamed up
with Nelly and various other artists, but for this particular
song shes on her own.
The first thing you notice about this song is its mood. It
has a sombre, melancholy feeling about it. Its almost
regretful. This is the sort of song you play when youre
upset or tired or feeling sorry for yourself.
This song is deep and meaningful, and isnt just a bunch of
words thrown together with some music. It tells a story. This was
a hard story to analyse, though. From what I could grasp, it is
about a boy who never fitted in. Thats my theory, anyway
but Id be interested if anybody else knew a bit more about
it. This uncertainty of the meaning makes the song a little out-of-the-ordinary,
because most songs are pretty easy to understand. I cant
understand this one, and the words are even included, which is
pretty uncommon in a single. Not understanding only made me even
more curious and interested in the song, and I found myself
listening to it again and again, trying to get a theory, any
theory. I still dont get it! Oh well
I would recommend Stole to people of all ages, but be
warned that you may not understand it. Dont let that deter
you, though. Stole has already proved to be a huge hit, ascending
the charts and becoming one of the most popular songs of (early)
2003.I give it a five out of five.
