Survivor is the third studio album by Destiny's Child, released on May 1, 2001.Two of its singles, "Bootylicious" and "Independent Woman Part I", reached number one on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 singles chart, and the title track, "Survivor", peaked at number two. Former Destiny's Child member Farrah Franklin appears on the international version of Survivor, on the tracks "Dance with Me", "Perfect Man", and "Independent Woman, Pt. 1", providing background vocals with Michelle Williams and Kelly Rowland.

Survivor debuted at number one on the U.S. Billboard 200 and the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums charts, selling over 663,000 copies in its first week. Within two months of its release the album was certified triple platinum by the RIAA in recognition of three million copied sold to retailers in the United States. The album was the seventh best-selling album of 2001, selling over 3.72 million copies during the year . It was certified four times platinum on January 4, 2002, and has sold 4.3 million copies in the U.S. to date , and over 440,000 copies through music club sales. It spent fourteen weeks in the top ten and forty six weeks on the Billboard 200, less than half the amount of time that Destiny's Child's previous album, The Writing's on the Wall (1999), spent on the chart.

Survivor debuted at number one in most of the countries it charted on including: the United Kingdom, Canada, Ireland, the Netherlands, Germany, Norway, Austria, Belgium and Switzerland. It landed in the top ten in Poland, Sweden, Japan, France, Italy and Finland. Worldwide, the album sold five million copies in its first five weeks, and though in the U.S. it didn't perform as well as The Writing's on the Wall, worldwide it matched the success of the previous album and even surpassed it in some countries. In Europe the album was certified two times platinum in recognition of two million albums sold across the continent. In Canada Survivor debuted at number one, selling over 31,000 copies in its first week, and it was certified four times platinum (400,000 copies) in October 2003. In South Africa and the United Kingdom the album was certified three times platinum; it spent four weeks at number one on the UK Albums Chart, and eventually sold 1.02 million copies. The album was certified two times platinum in Australia. Survivor has sold 16 million copies worldwide.
